Effective concrete repair is more than simply removing damaged concrete and filling the area.
The repair needs to address the cause, extent and condition of the deterioration and be appropriate for the existing structure.
1. Inspection & Assessment
The first step is to inspect the concrete and identify visible cracking, spalling, delamination, exposed reinforcement, water ingress and other signs of deterioration.
2. Identify the Cause
Understanding why the concrete has deteriorated helps determine the appropriate repair method.
3. Remove Defective Concrete
Unsound, loose or delaminated concrete is carefully removed back to sound material.
4. Prepare & Treat Reinforcement
Where reinforcement has been exposed or affected by corrosion, the steel can be cleaned and treated in accordance with the specified repair system. The extent of reinforcement deterioration is assessed as part of the repair.
5. Reinstate the Concrete
Suitable concrete repair materials are selected according to the repair location, depth, substrate, exposure conditions and project requirements. Repairs can involve hand-applied repair mortars, flowable materials or other specified concrete repair systems.
Our approach also focuses on crucial factors such as substrate preparation, reinforcement protection, corrosion mitigation, selection of appropriate repair materials, and the overall requirements for ensuring a long-lasting repair.

We provide crack stitching solutions suitable for masonry and concrete applications.
Cracking can result from movement, settlement, thermal changes, structural loading, moisture-related deterioration or failure of existing construction.
Before carrying out crack stitching, the cause and extent of the cracking should be assessed to determine whether stitching is an appropriate repair.
Crack stitching involves installing stainless steel reinforcement bars into prepared horizontal slots across the crack. The bars are bedded into a suitable structural repair mortar, helping to reconnect the masonry and distribute stresses across the cracked area.
Our approach to crack repair focuses on understanding the root causes of cracking rather than merely addressing the visible defects, ensuring that our crack repairs are thorough and long-lasting.

Crack injection and structural crack repair for masonry and concrete structures.
Crack injection can be used to fill and seal suitable cracks in concrete, masonry and other construction materials.
Cracking can result from movement, settlement, thermal changes, structural loading, moisture-related deterioration or failure of existing construction.
Before carrying out crack injection, the cause and extent of the cracking should be assessed to determine whether injection is an appropriate repair.
Crack injection involves introducing a suitable resin or repair material into prepared cracks, helping to seal the affected area and, where appropriate, restore continuity or improve resistance to water ingress.
The repair method and materials used will depend on the crack width, depth, location, movement characteristics and condition of the surrounding structure.

Concrete slabs and decks can deteriorate through cracking, reinforcement corrosion, water penetration, chemical exposure, impact, abrasion, settlement and long-term environmental conditions.
Damage can range from localised surface deterioration to deeper defects affecting the concrete and reinforcement.
We assess the condition and extent of deterioration before determining an appropriate repair approach.
Repairs can include removal of defective concrete, preparation and treatment of reinforcement, substrate preparation, reinstatement with suitable repair materials and application of protective or waterproofing systems where specified.
Where the existing slab or deck remains structurally suitable, targeted repairs and protection can provide an alternative to replacement.

Where reinforced concrete has been affected by carbonation, chloride ingress or other forms of reinforcement corrosion, corrosion inhibitors and cathodic protection systems can form part of an appropriate repair and protection strategy.
Corrosion Inhibitors
Corrosion inhibitors are used to help reduce the rate of corrosion of embedded steel reinforcement within concrete.
They can be incorporated into concrete repair and protection programmes where reinforcement corrosion is identified or where additional corrosion protection is required.
Corrosion inhibitors may be used alongside concrete breakout and reinstatement, reinforcement treatment, crack repairs and protective or anti-carbonation coatings, subject to the specified repair system and project requirements.
Cathodic Protection
Cathodic protection is a specialist method of controlling reinforcement corrosion in reinforced concrete structures. It works by altering the electrochemical conditions around the embedded reinforcement to reduce or control the corrosion process.
Cathodic protection can be particularly relevant where chloride contamination or widespread reinforcement corrosion makes conventional localised concrete repair less suitable as the sole remedial measure.
Systems can include galvanic or impressed-current cathodic protection, with the appropriate system depending on the structure, reinforcement, concrete condition, chloride levels, environmental exposure and required service life.
We work closely with specialist manufacturers, system designers and structural engineers to provide the best technical solution.
